It was built in 1845 and is officially Pequea Bridge #4. It's located on Belmont Road in Leacock/Paradise Township. Back in the 1800's the land surrounding the bridge was inhabited by Pequaw's Indians. Now you'll find the area surrounding it dotted with various farm lands...some of them owned by the Amish.<p></p><p>It's a single span, double Burr Arch Truss wooden covered bridge measuring 113 feet long, spanning across the Pequea Creek. Clearance is 10 feet 6". It's open to vehicular traffic but be careful crossing because it's a single lane bridge. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOveP10VQRxwEBv-_zoTJc8R0flfslF_2x7rmid1W8i8hHz1S-GSGyRu3_jCj55iVyGz40KxhqiW__H3-qfI4eFW4JkgbcSo9w8GUmOI_MPIPy4V1pHylVb7DIcwDRRO99J_cQ1uLW3xbbIv8x22yvpPwlSiRteSbdcQlKswl9uvQsbs4BzXPwyMH4WMix/s950/Leaman's%20Place%20Covered%20Bridge%20in%20Lancaster.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Leaman's Place Covered Bridge in Lancaster County" border="0" data-original-height="756" data-original-width="950" height="319" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOveP10VQRxwEBv-_zoTJc8R0flfslF_2x7rmid1W8i8hHz1S-GSGyRu3_jCj55iVyGz40KxhqiW__H3-qfI4eFW4JkgbcSo9w8GUmOI_MPIPy4V1pHylVb7DIcwDRRO99J_cQ1uLW3xbbIv8x22yvpPwlSiRteSbdcQlKswl9uvQsbs4BzXPwyMH4WMix/w400-h319/Leaman's%20Place%20Covered%20Bridge%20in%20Lancaster.jpg" title="Leaman's Place Covered Bridge in Lancaster County" width="400" /></a></div><p>On the outside of the bridge you'll find the historical information plaque containing detailed information about the designer and construction of the bridge along with some historical facts. There were heavy equipment digging up an area (not sure what was being done). We parked and headed down the "marked" walking trail. We didn't get too far. The area was really overgrown and hadn't been maintained for some time. I guess that's why there were workers there trying to improve things. I think this would be a great place to go on quick walks or light-walking hikes if they put some effort into making it better. I think some landscaping with flowers and other things would make a nice addition too.</p>ShellyHhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16649460664751336031noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2778457976755432936.post-4328478431840273752024-02-07T08:00:00.046-05:002024-02-07T08:00:00.267-05:00Shopping at the Cackleberry Farm Antique Mall in Paradise<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1qwGxK6cTvN2Xej6iTRQpe_yTZp9HI8YPzSNVnJKP9VTJkXsRrWOvEr_32c-ZHklNrTKIKV5VVoVrxhMO94dD6S572nlcXHVdk-6mjWR9JJWkue-xVx1nv2wNMEhYb3hMnxyaA0DB2Tfp0AtIv1HC7B2A9fr3zeLIAh6gAG7QbYKqrnELDO1oDz1RJHqs/s800/The%20Cackleberry%20Farm%20Antique%20Mall.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Cackleberry Farm Antique Mall in Paradise" border="0" data-original-height="600" data-original-width="800" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1qwGxK6cTvN2Xej6iTRQpe_yTZp9HI8YPzSNVnJKP9VTJkXsRrWOvEr_32c-ZHklNrTKIKV5VVoVrxhMO94dD6S572nlcXHVdk-6mjWR9JJWkue-xVx1nv2wNMEhYb3hMnxyaA0DB2Tfp0AtIv1HC7B2A9fr3zeLIAh6gAG7QbYKqrnELDO1oDz1RJHqs/w400-h300/The%20Cackleberry%20Farm%20Antique%20Mall.jpg" title="Cackleberry Farm Antique Mall in Paradise" width="400" /></a></div><br />The Cackleberry Farm Antique Mall is one of the biggest antique stores in Lancaster County. That's more of a gift shop if you're looking for those type's of things. </p>ShellyHhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16649460664751336031noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2778457976755432936.post-48696355529189566992024-02-01T07:30:00.057-05:002024-02-01T07:30:00.453-05:00Philly Beer Fest on Saturday February 17th<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5Obczu_qfX5tN8AAQXMDthRn-K5pSdeIU5-WZdqsBwClyrAFaIpQrDlZJM217mwdOtU7Ir397FBzevrQwWFkcJzU-IaXmzcZs7Q9nHYToBHzcqFajbOkBsVECyrhXC6yjB6UgTOnAu2dVzQ9FHvadQPka078LUvXPM4pvNl3SsAoMG3m_4euArireksLr/s900/Philly%20Beer%20Fest%202024.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Philly Beer Fest on Saturday February 17th, 2024" border="0" data-original-height="898" data-original-width="900" height="399" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5Obczu_qfX5tN8AAQXMDthRn-K5pSdeIU5-WZdqsBwClyrAFaIpQrDlZJM217mwdOtU7Ir397FBzevrQwWFkcJzU-IaXmzcZs7Q9nHYToBHzcqFajbOkBsVECyrhXC6yjB6UgTOnAu2dVzQ9FHvadQPka078LUvXPM4pvNl3SsAoMG3m_4euArireksLr/w400-h399/Philly%20Beer%20Fest%202024.png" title="Philly Beer Fest on Saturday February 17th, 2024" width="400" /></a></div><br />The inaugural Philly Beer Fest, a one of a kind event focused on celebrating Pennsylvania based beer companies and beyond, will take place Saturday, February 17th 2024 at 23rd Street Armory in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. with two sessions available to attend that day. <div><br /></div><div>Goers will have their pick of one of two curated sessions featuring pours from PA’s top breweries, while sharing some of the best beers, beverages, eats, and more, in the country. </div><div><br /></div><div>Tickets, session details and additional information can be found at:<b><span style="color: #990000;"> <a href="http://www.phillybeerfest.com/buynow" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">www.phillybeerfest.com/buynow</a></span></b>. Each location has their own FREE parking lot, so no need to drive around looking for a parking spot or paying for a spot at a meter. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiby0z55J7KRnyjldY6m1M4eJVa8-biI_4Yf2kTaKUrvvqK3DwhbiDrh3KYXVzMFqITXDD-1UTqI3zeELwNI3dhruU0LOnK_yuIJ_Jo5k7_kUeDsREdgUAZsrybLBtRRDruQPk-kHGfAEnkfH7ObU7sMI3JM_OLluCtOoLLlT1h2WNCflgP1xgrfnb-oDTU/s900/The%20Marvis%20Diner%20Restaurant%20in%20North%20Wildwood.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Marvis Diner in North Wildwood, New Jersey" border="0" data-original-height="712" data-original-width="900" height="316" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiby0z55J7KRnyjldY6m1M4eJVa8-biI_4Yf2kTaKUrvvqK3DwhbiDrh3KYXVzMFqITXDD-1UTqI3zeELwNI3dhruU0LOnK_yuIJ_Jo5k7_kUeDsREdgUAZsrybLBtRRDruQPk-kHGfAEnkfH7ObU7sMI3JM_OLluCtOoLLlT1h2WNCflgP1xgrfnb-oDTU/w400-h316/The%20Marvis%20Diner%20Restaurant%20in%20North%20Wildwood.jpg" title="Marvis Diner in North Wildwood, New Jersey" width="400" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVFwRIFVy6MEUIrBzQeOaX6lbjlOlupNZBsGMpY7mCJwuVoxfmpa15hdm87TDHNS1r3V3GRXwqyaTORc68yQe-8MWkiiD5_NVpAe0ZZG_J1mWSIoZDmfhwMMD6arAdV8cmLV0pj0grsE0EpCI3h4r3OFg_JsAanPHCYjd6eQ04qg81cNMAFDU5kLTPbpuK/s800/Marvis%20Diner%20in%20North%20Wildwood%20-%20Menu.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Marvis Diner in North Wildwood, New Jersey" border="0" data-original-height="600" data-original-width="800" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVFwRIFVy6MEUIrBzQeOaX6lbjlOlupNZBsGMpY7mCJwuVoxfmpa15hdm87TDHNS1r3V3GRXwqyaTORc68yQe-8MWkiiD5_NVpAe0ZZG_J1mWSIoZDmfhwMMD6arAdV8cmLV0pj0grsE0EpCI3h4r3OFg_JsAanPHCYjd6eQ04qg81cNMAFDU5kLTPbpuK/w400-h300/Marvis%20Diner%20in%20North%20Wildwood%20-%20Menu.jpg" title="Marvis Diner in North Wildwood, New Jersey" width="400" /></a></div><p>For several years we've enjoyed lunch or dinner from their main location on Pacific Avenue. The food has always been delicious and reasonably priced. This time around we decided to try out their new location in North Wildwood and we're so glad that we did!</p><p>Both locations offer the same exact menu offerings. You'll find your classic diner fare like roasted chicken, meatloaf, ham steaks, hamburgers, steaks, seafood, wraps, hot and cold sandwiches, several different appetizers, desserts, salads, soups and so forth. There's a small kid's menu too.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-1jfV9mxU7ImdfShlJDsg9d3c23Xd56p9FwS4OZjsS7x8HKYsFYnbbycSNPnTWbpvB-uJ_es5Qe21EV6CFVwqch6SQhiaP4FG4w9ZqEarDb29Dr-Qpl_fCSF48_8wMRy9BK9TCt_IeoklgOXJm9j0tRshCt2KvXNROR2RKGFQ4fou5FzxCnSaeWerIcPv/s900/Marvis%20Diner%20Chicken%20Fingers.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Marvis Diner in North Wildwood, New Jersey" border="0" data-original-height="712" data-original-width="900" height="316" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-1jfV9mxU7ImdfShlJDsg9d3c23Xd56p9FwS4OZjsS7x8HKYsFYnbbycSNPnTWbpvB-uJ_es5Qe21EV6CFVwqch6SQhiaP4FG4w9ZqEarDb29Dr-Qpl_fCSF48_8wMRy9BK9TCt_IeoklgOXJm9j0tRshCt2KvXNROR2RKGFQ4fou5FzxCnSaeWerIcPv/w400-h316/Marvis%20Diner%20Chicken%20Fingers.jpg" title="Marvis Diner in North Wildwood, New Jersey" width="400" /></a></div><p>One thing that we really like about the new location is that it wasn't crowded! Their main location often gets crowded during the summer season. You may have to wait on a table. At their new location we were seated immediately and had drinks on our table 3 minutes later. The wait staff took our orders within 5 minutes and about 20-25 minutes later our meals were on the table. That's fast service!</p><p>Everything that we ordered was cooked to perfection and to our specific requests. Nicely presented on the plate with items separated and not running together. The portion size was very generous, matter of fact, we both got take-home boxes to-go. Food was delicious and very satisfying. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhc0wubf9zp0aR1ZF9VqmPDfnM-_7JQFhYbF-1frV5BImr60bwIOE_cmwzY8OeTdJGzJAKIRzSXv_D30xgIn1ob0p4TeO7o-wcoUnabySTXKQebouShBS47LuBaD0bv65U_9PrToe3i2mlw6uFuV8OPB72HAjplwyz5KMk5hzczSSC8xpe9SPrT4Us-hfPn/s900/Marvis%20Diner%20Restaurant%20Wildwood.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Marvis Diner in North Wildwood, New Jersey" border="0" data-original-height="675" data-original-width="900" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhc0wubf9zp0aR1ZF9VqmPDfnM-_7JQFhYbF-1frV5BImr60bwIOE_cmwzY8OeTdJGzJAKIRzSXv_D30xgIn1ob0p4TeO7o-wcoUnabySTXKQebouShBS47LuBaD0bv65U_9PrToe3i2mlw6uFuV8OPB72HAjplwyz5KMk5hzczSSC8xpe9SPrT4Us-hfPn/w400-h300/Marvis%20Diner%20Restaurant%20Wildwood.jpg" title="Marvis Diner in North Wildwood, New Jersey" width="400" /></a></div><p>If you haven't tried out the new Marvis Diner location on Spruce Avenue in North Wildwood we highly recomend that you do! It was torn down several years ago. Visitors to the boardwalk attractions looked forward to it during every summer vaction. Well, it's kind of been brought back to life with a new wall mural on the Wildwood Boardwalk.<p></p><p>October 2022 the Castle Dracula wall mural made its appearance on the side of a building at the Boardwalk Mall. Completed in just a few days by Russell Simmons. It's a nice sized mural and can't be missed when strolling down the boardwalk. </p><p>If you want to get a nice photograph of it...go down the ramp and stand on the sidewalk. You'll get a nice straight-on shot of it instead of an angled shot from standing up on the boards. Very cool mural. Glad that we got to see it.</p><p>* Double-click on the image to get it to open up in a new window and in an enlarged size. That will allow you to see all of the cool details.</p>ShellyHhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16649460664751336031noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2778457976755432936.post-32869141954351417762023-12-28T07:30:00.000-05:002023-12-28T07:30:00.124-05:00How to Make a Quick and Easy Travel Sewing Kit<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0_evcSB5w8Hxk4Bcc6EM0lB0IhSQ2ds3uakdSJxdJyzcpblszQNqKPCkT71vLaIgl3ngqR-L-cSwlxr8PJncrzFBq-Dl6BOVehlGfMykNVevR0l1eTJaR235ylCIuvz2mMM-HOKYR8VlNB1rKMNRuxycDQUkJNK5IWKvZfHBgqo709TOj-8AhhWLGaITG/s480/how%20to%20make%20travel%20sewing%20kit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="How to Put Together a Quick and Easy Travel Sewing Kit" border="0" data-original-height="360" data-original-width="480" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0_evcSB5w8Hxk4Bcc6EM0lB0IhSQ2ds3uakdSJxdJyzcpblszQNqKPCkT71vLaIgl3ngqR-L-cSwlxr8PJncrzFBq-Dl6BOVehlGfMykNVevR0l1eTJaR235ylCIuvz2mMM-HOKYR8VlNB1rKMNRuxycDQUkJNK5IWKvZfHBgqo709TOj-8AhhWLGaITG/w400-h300/how%20to%20make%20travel%20sewing%20kit.jpg" title="How to Put Together a Quick and Easy Travel Sewing Kit" width="400" /></a></div><br />Have you ever gotten to your destination and realized that your pants are missing a button? The zipper on your jacket won't work? A seam on your favorite blouse has torn open? We've all have had these type's of issues at one time or another when traveling. <p></p><p>When we travel we take a little homemade sewing kit along with us. It doesn't need to contain a lot of things. Just a couple of basic items to get you through the emergency is all that you need. Here's what's in our little homemade travel sewing kit.</p><p><b><u>Thread</u></b> - You want to make sure you have a few basic colors like white, black, brown, navy, yellow, red, green, etc. All you need is a little bit of each color. We cut them off the spool at home and wrap around a piece of acetate that fits within our little travel case.</p><p><b><u>Scissors</u></b> - A small pair that you can pick up at a discount store like Dollar Tree.</p><p><b><u>Buttons</u></b> - Various basic colors and sizes. </p><p><b><u>Sewing Needles</u></b> - I recommend that you have 2-3 in your kit.</p><p><b><u>Safety Pins</u></b> - You should have at least 4 different sized safety pins. </p><p><b><u>Travel Case</u></b> - We have our little kit packed in an empty Altoids metal tin that used to hold mints! It's the perfect size and keeps everything protected.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgc_dk7M583MBcqQGU6WmmMnNCUtg9jXZn_Jl26NXA4y7gvY_HJEeBDu0lU0vi7OaxncWnNQ61_AwKRZZoQcYVd-ezRSLcbi7HvAwOTW1GROMCmiLJaIwG3ynicYmqxTks35mKrDyRuQETHUqJ-FlS8AYke3VM9O0S5dUc0AhlT8NGtaTF1sCvB47aYeFLq/s499/how%20to%20make%20a%20travel%20sewing%20kit%20on-the-go.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="How to Put Together a Quick and Easy Travel Sewing Kit" border="0" data-original-height="499" data-original-width="470" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgc_dk7M583MBcqQGU6WmmMnNCUtg9jXZn_Jl26NXA4y7gvY_HJEeBDu0lU0vi7OaxncWnNQ61_AwKRZZoQcYVd-ezRSLcbi7HvAwOTW1GROMCmiLJaIwG3ynicYmqxTks35mKrDyRuQETHUqJ-FlS8AYke3VM9O0S5dUc0AhlT8NGtaTF1sCvB47aYeFLq/w376-h400/how%20to%20make%20a%20travel%20sewing%20kit%20on-the-go.jpg" title="How to Put Together a Quick and Easy Travel Sewing Kit" width="376" /></a></div><p>Those are the basics. However, if you wish to add a few additional things like snaps, self-adhesive velcro, a mini 12" long measuring tape, needle threader, rubber thimble, etc. you certainly can. We like to pack "light" so we keep our on-the-go travel sewing kit packed with the bare minimum.</p><p>If you end up mending something while traveling...it's important that you refill the travel sewing kit once you return home. You don't want it to lay in your travel bag and then forget about replenishing it. Planning ahead and being prepared can help you tackle those little travel emergencies quickly.</p>ShellyHhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16649460664751336031noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2778457976755432936.post-63850919838005425562023-12-21T07:30:00.000-05:002023-12-21T07:30:00.127-05:00Forbes Road Stony Creek Encampment Historical Marker<p> Over the past 11 years we've been following the Pennsylvania Historical Marker Trail all through our great state and documenting them here on the blog. Millions of people walk or drive by these markers every year and never give them a second thought. They're a great source of historic information and we're trying to bring some much needed attention to them.</p><p>While on the Pennsylvania Historical Marker Trail through Somerset County we spotted the Forbes Road Stony Creek Encampment marker. It's located at the intersection of Lincoln Highway US Route 30 and Whistler Road. Here's what it says.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1pwDnG6Ac_k0rEPUWvUuXOUssBRc116avqevDYANaJFEMhFIrlYKlGIz_IAxHfaDc-mky-eokklmQGcVa3yFmXcNvuT4MlaXnZhqhxCUqKrAIOYKTG_tXEzck079oWPaqvgI1i63sou-N-Sez0gaG0HwVL4GOd723p8ox5eCe1zvWpZE2z7NTkfJScQ/s1440/Forbes%20Road%20Stony%20Creek%20Encampment%20Historical%20Marker.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Forbes Road Stony Creek Encampment Historical Marker in Somerset County Pennsylvania" border="0" data-original-height="1440" data-original-width="1080" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1pwDnG6Ac_k0rEPUWvUuXOUssBRc116avqevDYANaJFEMhFIrlYKlGIz_IAxHfaDc-mky-eokklmQGcVa3yFmXcNvuT4MlaXnZhqhxCUqKrAIOYKTG_tXEzck079oWPaqvgI1i63sou-N-Sez0gaG0HwVL4GOd723p8ox5eCe1zvWpZE2z7NTkfJScQ/w300-h400/Forbes%20Road%20Stony%20Creek%20Encampment%20Historical%20Marker.jpg" title="Forbes Road Stony Creek Encampment Historical Marker in Somerset County Pennsylvania" width="300" /></a></div><p><b>Forbes Road Stony Creek Encampment</b></p><p><b>A fortified supply depot known as the Stony Creek encampment or fort was a little north of here. As we walked up onto the beach facing the Delaware Bay we spotted piles and piles of rocks. We have no idea who piled them up or why it was done. There were hundreds of them! We looked on the internet and couldn't find any information on why this was done. </p><p>The shoreline in this area does have small pebbles, rocks, and seashells...but NOTHING like what we saw that day. A few of the piles of rocks had American flags sticking in them...another pile had a Rosary, and we found one pile that had some seashells (clam shells) mixed into it. All of this was man-made and not a natural occurance.</p><p>Our next trip down to the south Jersey Shore will be in a few weeks. We will stop back in to see if any of it has changed. It was definitely "odd" and wasn't there in October 2022, so we're guessing it was something done in Spring of 2023. We'll update this post once we learn more.</p>ShellyHhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16649460664751336031noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2778457976755432936.post-35767387316223557502023-11-21T10:00:00.000-05:002023-11-21T10:31:16.686-05:00Outdoor Wall Mural of the Thomas Covered Bridge in Indiana County<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiH4-VhemxP7gt9e7vK7NokkiLnCDKZXRsaycRsa59NBvbTR0ihxyMTD698p2AKt1nGAUToDuaoVCjQSBn5D0fbuDCDS3Gm74hbcBNyrZqSWoqCYhojibgOsDL1penGlIol9vObXDGssOnug-tYzT-qB7LE_-PVQhVf4v1_yeoj9FmeVbBruYK8Bvt64g/s701/Outdoor%20Country%20Street%20Bridge%20Art%20Thomas%20Covered%20Bridge.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Outdoor Wall Mural of the Thomas Covered Bridge in Indiana County Pennsylvania" border="0" data-original-height="585" data-original-width="701" height="334" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiH4-VhemxP7gt9e7vK7NokkiLnCDKZXRsaycRsa59NBvbTR0ihxyMTD698p2AKt1nGAUToDuaoVCjQSBn5D0fbuDCDS3Gm74hbcBNyrZqSWoqCYhojibgOsDL1penGlIol9vObXDGssOnug-tYzT-qB7LE_-PVQhVf4v1_yeoj9FmeVbBruYK8Bvt64g/w400-h334/Outdoor%20Country%20Street%20Bridge%20Art%20Thomas%20Covered%20Bridge.jpg" title="Outdoor Wall Mural of the Thomas Covered Bridge in Indiana County Pennsylvania" width="400" /></a></div><br />We were taking the covered bridge tourist trail through Indiana County to visit the historic Thomas Covered Bridge. We slowed down and tried to get the best photos of it that we could.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0Ucc1a8M03gkhGqcuyxAaQYZdT_i-ZVWuxYA-Hs5ZvGvY8Ol--sYcDRenPKsD8DRXXS3vYQZR6fR7HDaCiVLPgDO0fdvRjEKUHXYTz-yga_SFtSW2mBywED3brQ8JXJ842nmZ1deAdBVUu8uDsk4MaQSu0VIT5Bn9T-HpmrmRIzk4ZfjnDeDFJEwErQ/s899/Covered%20Bridge%20Wall%20Mural%20Outdoor%20Street%20Art.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Outdoor Wall Mural of the Thomas Covered Bridge in Indiana County Pennsylvania" border="0" data-original-height="612" data-original-width="899" height="272" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0Ucc1a8M03gkhGqcuyxAaQYZdT_i-ZVWuxYA-Hs5ZvGvY8Ol--sYcDRenPKsD8DRXXS3vYQZR6fR7HDaCiVLPgDO0fdvRjEKUHXYTz-yga_SFtSW2mBywED3brQ8JXJ842nmZ1deAdBVUu8uDsk4MaQSu0VIT5Bn9T-HpmrmRIzk4ZfjnDeDFJEwErQ/w400-h272/Covered%20Bridge%20Wall%20Mural%20Outdoor%20Street%20Art.jpg" title="Outdoor Wall Mural of the Thomas Covered Bridge in Indiana County Pennsylvania" width="400" /></a></div><p>According to the signature it was painted in 2012 by four different people (check out the bottom right corner) to see the signatures. Unlike other antique malls...this one is clean, organized and you won't find a lot of junk lying around. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEdgUaipI3YeMjlFMvyRXybzzQ3GcPMR94PkBTZ9HRwVW9N5m3XNy6siOOrz2QQqB8j51xlDWQW2-i-CnNbnAy2JdCB4r51pvuwRBeskfpzaSg_tiaMmZ6_faWcGfuW459PQtuEi-_WQAF1ZOwJoqjwwMFaGVz_A0s9XWYWhUCRIJGiVGqgeGUunsAzw/s877/Antiques%20Shopping%20Mall%20in%20Hershey%20at%20Crossroads.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Crossroads Antique Mall in Hershey Pennsylvania" border="0" data-original-height="657" data-original-width="877" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEdgUaipI3YeMjlFMvyRXybzzQ3GcPMR94PkBTZ9HRwVW9N5m3XNy6siOOrz2QQqB8j51xlDWQW2-i-CnNbnAy2JdCB4r51pvuwRBeskfpzaSg_tiaMmZ6_faWcGfuW459PQtuEi-_WQAF1ZOwJoqjwwMFaGVz_A0s9XWYWhUCRIJGiVGqgeGUunsAzw/w400-h300/Antiques%20Shopping%20Mall%20in%20Hershey%20at%20Crossroads.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><p>There are stairs to go downstairs to the bottom floor. Down there we saw a lot of the same type of items that we saw upstairs...with perhaps a little bit more furniture being offered by those sellers compared to the ones upstairs. Downstairs is where you'll find the public restrooms. </p><p>Checkout is located in one central area...right by the entrance doors. On the day that we were there they weren't overly busy...so we were able to get in...look around, shop and checkout all within 90 minutes or so. I would recommend allowing at least 1 hour in your schedule if you plan on visiting. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjn9v7-O78cyhNiuEvluzqNFq4WL2ovQA8PXkW1rOQ9q3O9fm68hvjDXX3uoTZV8vCgYBZsH656FAIcQZM-YEg1xzBLvHAEBQqcyecI1Pl_xceG37t0FiZ055SPMCEGhssueERgPwcHeHL5ze5cx8O8Zan9H7is-ESf73_Gd0cJz2k9WWc_aHJKj3zzZw/s866/Crossroads%20Antique%20Mall%20in%20Hershey%20plus%20Collectibles.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Crossroads Antique Mall in Hershey Pennsylvania" border="0" data-original-height="649" data-original-width="866" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjn9v7-O78cyhNiuEvluzqNFq4WL2ovQA8PXkW1rOQ9q3O9fm68hvjDXX3uoTZV8vCgYBZsH656FAIcQZM-YEg1xzBLvHAEBQqcyecI1Pl_xceG37t0FiZ055SPMCEGhssueERgPwcHeHL5ze5cx8O8Zan9H7is-ESf73_Gd0cJz2k9WWc_aHJKj3zzZw/w400-h300/Crossroads%20Antique%20Mall%20in%20Hershey%20plus%20Collectibles.jpg" title="Crossroads Antique Mall in Hershey Pennsylvania" width="400" /></a></div><p>Overall it was a nice antique mall to visit. My only gripe is that the majority of the items we saw were majorly over-priced. We go to a lot of antiques and collectibles stores and the prices at this one were way above what we typically see for the same or similar items. They had nice items but I feel they could do a lot more business if they had more reasonable prices. Other than that, we enjoyed our visit.</p>ShellyHhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16649460664751336031noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2778457976755432936.post-25095619121194393432023-10-21T07:30:00.053-04:002023-10-21T07:30:00.135-04:00Award-Winning Pizza from Italian Pizza and Subs <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhv3I2Nu_r7Sc5ww_kAwvyo_IcljgKJDIl9Vr_aMFX9ZIiSwyTPHpTyEKkHAWRLXn3KxbijCcOF3hIMjqgwiN19u3BPMjZTj4AiQdupllcWDrVFOzzCm22SH-QJSqnG6we3C5Od67vmTHP5_BceGlAoBWfcE5qmkJiSDOeEW-tpQs-XBGm5r-h6fUritQ/s880/Italian%20Pizza%20and%20Subs.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Italian Pizza and Subs in Harrisburg Pennsylvania" border="0" data-original-height="660" data-original-width="880" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhv3I2Nu_r7Sc5ww_kAwvyo_IcljgKJDIl9Vr_aMFX9ZIiSwyTPHpTyEKkHAWRLXn3KxbijCcOF3hIMjqgwiN19u3BPMjZTj4AiQdupllcWDrVFOzzCm22SH-QJSqnG6we3C5Od67vmTHP5_BceGlAoBWfcE5qmkJiSDOeEW-tpQs-XBGm5r-h6fUritQ/w400-h300/Italian%20Pizza%20and%20Subs.jpg" title="Italian Pizza and Subs in Harrisburg Pennsylvania" width="400" /></a></div><br />Italian Pizza & Subs in located in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. It's the crash site of United Airlines flight 93. The memorial honors the crew and passengers who fought the terrorists on that fateful day. Thanks to their bravery...they saved hundreds, if not thousands of lives that day. It's a day that most Americans will never forget.<div><br /></div><div>Visiting the memorial is FREE and open to the public from sunrise until sunset. It's open year-round, weather permitting. The visitor's center is open every day except for major holidays. You'll want to park in the FREE parking lot, handicap spaces are available. </div><div><br /></div><div>The memorial was designed by Paul and Milena Murdoch of Los Angeles, California and their design team. The memorial was titled Crescent of Embrace with the first phase of the permanent memorial completed and dedicated on September 10th, 2011. There was some controversy about the "Crescent" design, so it was officially modified into a circle to address those concerns. You can find information online and at the visitor's center if you wish to learn more about it. </div><div><br /></div><div>You'll want to start your visit at the Visitor's Center where you can check out the interactive displays, talk to the employees and volunteers and/or use the public restroom. We spent about 20 minutes just in the visitor's center reading all of the information. From time to time they host educational programs at the center too. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhoBqHimPrMO_bvVJODAwbqzxoPV95TV2Ft1goFD5gzQF1WOsJ3xnaYXQt8CGXglnGYKAOIwmmBE-iA4Ko7vSVqFWlllPNbTosIzLyhpWZ2En6OdESeRLn596ads0cI3muAG_XP8mgIgM2WG8n6zZY3r0bzlPasBJiBrmHeE5GPGV0LroYdFhlouuMpcw/s1022/Flight%2093%20National%20Memorial%20Wall%20of%20Names%20Info.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Flight 93 National Memorial in Shanksville Pennsylvania" border="0" data-original-height="701" data-original-width="1022" height="274" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhoBqHimPrMO_bvVJODAwbqzxoPV95TV2Ft1goFD5gzQF1WOsJ3xnaYXQt8CGXglnGYKAOIwmmBE-iA4Ko7vSVqFWlllPNbTosIzLyhpWZ2En6OdESeRLn596ads0cI3muAG_XP8mgIgM2WG8n6zZY3r0bzlPasBJiBrmHeE5GPGV0LroYdFhlouuMpcw/w400-h274/Flight%2093%20National%20Memorial%20Wall%20of%20Names%20Info.jpg" title="Flight 93 National Memorial in Shanksville Pennsylvania" width="400" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9KeU9z-myZ2oVmrk-cBNUOHjjResgprA41G_zbZIAa43OLVkCeM_cdZvOB_eEGGhYQrnM2KD286XC-lotH9RsBD7SjymPl5-c51H-dYEY4WfyaM6-QWAk6OkPF8qi56ZBwjzF5cMtrq4UFzRmbu07qOEBC6uNYlYxyDsR4XpxHMZTxx3ll7yUsXLWhg/s1235/Flight%2093%20National%20Memorial%20Wall%20of%20Names.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Flight 93 National Memorial in Shanksville Pennsylvania" border="0" data-original-height="1235" data-original-width="967" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9KeU9z-myZ2oVmrk-cBNUOHjjResgprA41G_zbZIAa43OLVkCeM_cdZvOB_eEGGhYQrnM2KD286XC-lotH9RsBD7SjymPl5-c51H-dYEY4WfyaM6-QWAk6OkPF8qi56ZBwjzF5cMtrq4UFzRmbu07qOEBC6uNYlYxyDsR4XpxHMZTxx3ll7yUsXLWhg/w314-h400/Flight%2093%20National%20Memorial%20Wall%20of%20Names.jpg" title="Flight 93 National Memorial in Shanksville Pennsylvania" width="314" /></a></div><div>The first thing you'll come to is the <b>Wall of Names</b> which contains 40 white marble panels which are positioned on the flight path.
