The Beautiful Gardens at the Lititz Historical Foundation Museum

Last month we took a day trip down to Lititz, Pennsylvania and stumbled upon a real gem at the Lititz Historical Foundation Museum. If you enjoy visiting botanical gardens, you're going to love The Mary Oehme Gardens, located to the rear of the museum.

Admission into the gardens is FREE and you'll find parking nearby. We parked a few blocks down on East Main Street and stumbled upon them while walking through the historic district while shopping. You'll enter the gardens via the white archway alongside the museum building.

Once you're back in the garden area you'll find plenty of places to sit down and relax. There is a water garden (pond area) that has plenty of green foliage and if you look closely, you'll find a few goldfish living there. My grandchildren loved seeing the fish and were trying to count them during our visit.

There is an authentic heritage garden and plenty of colorful flowers and green plants throughout the entire area. We explored our way around and took our time taking in all of the beauty that is there. It was nice to sit down on a park bench to relax, after all of the walking that we had been doing.

If you're looking to take some great family photographs during your trip to Lititz, you'll find plenty of areas within the botanical gardens that will yield great photographs. I took a few of the kids sitting on benches, sniffing flowers, sitting on the stone wall, etc. All of them came out nicely.

When visiting, you want to make sure that you (or the kids) don't trample through the flowers and no picking is allowed! We must be respectful of this beautiful place. In addition, please don't smoke or leave any trash behind. This gem needs to be treasured by all who visit.

Now that we've stumbled upon this place, we are hoping to visit the actual Lititz Historical Foundation Museum on our next day trip to this quaint little town. If you've never visited Lititz before, it's located in the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch Country and I highly recommend it. You can visit their official website to learn more about them.
