The Willie Nelson and Friends Museum in Nashville

Willie Nelson and Friends Museum in Nashville, Tennessee
Nashville is all about country music and if you're a fan...you'll find plenty of fun museums to visit. Each one offers something different but all incorporate that country music vibe. Put on your blue jeans and pull-on those boots...you're in for a ride.

On day two of our visit we stopped in to the Willie Nelson & Friends Museum located on McGavock Pike. It's open 7-days a week and you'll find free parking right across the street at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel and at the Grand Ole Opry House. If you want to avoid crowds...I recommend visiting during a weekday, as opposed to a weekend.

The museum offers guided and non-guided tours for $9.95 per person + tax. Children under the age of 12 are admitted for free with a paying adult. You'll be doing a lot of walking, so I recommend that you wear comfortable walking shoes. Along with your admission you'll receive a free guide that describes all of the exhibits that you'll see. It's a great take-home souvenir too!

Inside you'll find all kinds of items and memorabilia that belonged to Willie Nelson and thirty + additional country music superstars and legends. You'll see items belonging to Willie, Hank Williams Jr., Tanya Tucker, Tammy Wynette, Little Jimmy Dickens, Waylon Jennings, Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers, Dottie West, Shelly West, Webb Pierce, and more!

Some of the items and memorabilia that you see include: guitars, hand-written song lyrics and music, costumes and outfits, travel passports, photographs, awards, record album covers, concert posters, jewelry worn by the stars, personal hand-written letters, magazine covers, scrapbooks, medals, cowboy hats and boots, and more! This place is jam-packed with all kinds of interesting things!

You'll want to allow a minimum of two hours in your schedule, so that you can take your leisurely time going through the museum. After your done you can do some shopping in their on-site store for affordable gifts and souvenirs. We picked up some great t-shirts to remind us of our visit and a few additional ones to give as gifts come Christmastime.
