A few months ago we were on a road trip from central Pennsylvnaia through western New York. Instead of taking major highways...we opted to get off of the Interstate to explore some of the small towns along the way. This is how you REALLY see the countryside across America.
We were driving along a countryside road when we stumbled upon this V-J Day Sailor Kiss Wood Carving in Brockport, Pennsylvania. Imagine our surprise when we saw it! We enjoy viewing street art, wall murals and small town memorials...we knew we had to stop to photograph it.
After we got home from our road trip we tried to find out some information about it and who carved it. There wasn't a lot available...but here's what we found. It was carved by a husband and wife who own T & D Carvings in Brockport, Pennsylvania. From what I read online, the wife does MOST of the wood carvings. Both have won awards for their stunning carved artwork.
Isn't it a beauty? We think so! We were so lucky to have seen it and you really can't miss it due to its large size! Spectacular find!
