Last weekend we had the pleasure of attending the
6th Annual Hereford Inlet Lighthouse Maritime Festival and had a fabulous time! This festival is held on the lighthouse grounds and on the street that runs in front of the Hereford Lighthouse. The festival was held on June 20th and 21st, 2015.
The festival has free admission and free parking is nearby. If you want a tour of the Hereford Inlet Lighthouse, there is an admission fee for that. While you will do some walking, you won't be walking for miles and the grounds are handicap accessible.
As you walk up and down the street you will find vendors lining both sides. When we visited we found craft vendors, candle sellers, food & beverage vendors and several others. I really appreciated the variety of vendors that were there. Definitely something for everyone or just attend to grab a quick bite to eat & a nice cold drink.
There was a small performance stage that was set up and you could find live entertainment. When we were there...we heard a performance from some guy (didn't catch his name) and he was singing some oldies. Not bad at all and we enjoyed his performance for the 15 minutes that we watched. We would of stayed & listened longer but they didn't have seating available, so we had to stand.
One of the things I really enjoyed seeing was that some of the vendors and patrons were walking around dressed up in various pirate costumes. I don't know if they were holding a costume contest or not, but it was really cool seeing these people all decked out in their pirate finest!
Once we were onto the Hereford Lighthouse grounds we saw some really cool maritime displays. You can walk around them and take photos which was really nice. Plus, if you asked some of the costumed pirates for picture ops...they were more than welcome to oblige!
They had a few areas set up specifically for picture taking purposes. We took advantage of a few of those and the family had a lot of fun doing some poses. Two of my favorite are the boat display (shown above and the hanging girl - also shown above).
We spent about an hour at the Hereford Inlet Lighthouse Maritime Festival and had a really great time. I wish we could of stayed longer but we had dinner reservations and had to get going. While we were there, I did do some shopping and picked up some coastal home decor pieces that I just fell in-love with and Hubby grabbed a fresh fruit smoothie. He said it was delicious!
We are hoping to attend the 7th Annuals Hereford Inlet Lighthouse Maritime Festival next year when it returns. We had a great time!!! You can check them out on
Facebook for updates! You can check out the
Hereford Inlet Lighthouse web site for information & schedule of events.
