Sunset Beach is located at the very tip of south New Jersey in Cape May Point. To get there, you will want to get on Sunset Boulevard and take it to the very end which lands you in Sunset Beach. When you stand on this beautiful beach you will get unobstructed views of the gorgeous sunsets over the waters of the Delaware Bay. Matter of fact, there is no better place to see the sun setting in Cape May!
This beach was voted top 25 beaches in America by TripAdvisor and received a Travelers Choice Award back in 2013. It's open year-round and there are tons of things you can see and do while visiting Sunset Beach.
Top 7 Things to See and Do While Visiting Sunset Beach in Cape May.
1. Shop the Gift Shops - There are 3 unique gift shops here! One is a large gift shop where you can buy gourmet food, jewelry, apparel, home decor items, seashells, wind chimes, souvenirs and all sorts of other things. The second shop is a rock & mineral shop that also sells seashells and outdoor garden items. The third shop is a small apparel store that sells affordable...clothing. There is a public hand-cap accessible restroom in the largest of the three gift shops that visitors can use.

Evening Flag Ceremony - You will want to spend one evening at Sunset Beach so that you can enjoy a beautiful sunset and witness the Evening Flag Ceremony. Each evening, a United States veteran's casket flag is lowered to the sound of Taps. This happens every night from Memorial Day weekend through September 30th, approximately 30 minutes before sunset. It's a very touching and moving ceremony to see.

The Beautiful Beach - Bring a few sand chairs, beach blankets, etc. and hang out for the day on their gorgeous beach which is open to the public. You can enjoy some surf, sand and walk the beach looking for those famous Cape May diamonds. It's a great place to view ships and boats going back and forth through the bay and if you are really lucky...maybe you will spot a few whales & dolphins right offshore. This is a FREE beach, no beach tags required!
4. S. S. Atlantus - The S. S. Atlantus was constructed back during World War 1 and designed from experimental concrete, it was the second prototype of it's kind. With the end of the war, the more efficient steel ships were again available, the "Concrete Ship Fleet" was retired. The S. S. Atlantus was bought by a Baltimore firm and was towed to Cape May in New Jersey. A coastal storm came through & tore it from it's moorings on June 8th, 1926 and went aground. You can see what is left of the concrete ship by standing on the beach. (see photo above, not much is left sticking out of the water).
5. Sunset Beach Grille - This grille offers your standard food that you would find at a beach-side grill. You will find hamburgers, grilled sandwiches, chicken fingers, french fries, onion rings and all sorts of other foods and beverages. They are reasonably priced and the food is pretty good too! You can eat your meal on their deck, at a table with an umbrella or take it to-go with you.
6. Miniature Golf - Sunset Mini Golf is one of the best places to play miniature golf while visiting the Cape may area. It's an 18-hole mini golf course with 9 of those holes being handicap wheel chair accessible. Each hole offers a scenic view of the water or surrounding beach area. We love all of the various sand traps and water hazards that this miniature golf course has to offer. Beautifully landscaped and a lot of fun to play! It's one of our personal favorites!
7. WW II Lookout Tower - Within walking distance you will find the WW 2 Lookout Tower and All Veterans Memorial. It is FREE to walk around the tower and it's grounds. If you want to enter the tower and climb to the top...there is a small admission fee to do that.
You can do all of these 7 things right at Sunset Beach in Cape May Point, New Jersey. Within a short (minutes) driving distance you can visit Cape May Lighthouse State Park, the WW 2 Bunker on the Beach and other attractions that Cape May has to offer.

My son and daughterinlaw have recently been going to cape may to,visit friends. I shall,inform them of these sites and ask if they have gone to any of them.
