A few months ago we enjoyed a weekend getaway down to the Jersey Shore. We love the Jersey Shore and go down there several times every year. Sometimes we'll go for an entire week and at other times, to just enjoy a quick weekend getaway.
One of our favorite places to stay is at the
Harbor Light Family Resort located in
North Wildwood, New Jersey. It's within one block of the beaches in North Wildwood and Hereford Inlet, and within walking distance to the Hereford Inlet Park and the Hereford Inlet Lighthouse.
The motor in is open seasonally from around April to early October. It's family owned and operated, and has some of the most affordable guest rates on the entire island. Yes, Wildwood is technically a barrier island located along the south New Jersey coast and within 10 minutes driving distance to Cape May, Stone Harbor and Avalon.
This resort features 2 decent-sized heated swimming pools, 3 floors of motel rooms & guest suites, an elevator, free parking for guests, outdoor sundecks, gas grills, a small business office, etc. It's not fancy...but it's modern, comfortable and extremely clean.
They have various styles of rooms and accommodations available. We like to stay on the third floor in a corner suite that gives us gorgeous ocean views of the Atlantic Ocean. Our suite is always very clean and spaceous. Plenty of room for a family of four. There is a dining room table with four chairs, a decent-sized sleeper sofa and TV in the main living area.
There is a mini kitchen which includes a 2 burner stove, cookware, dinnerware, utensils, sink for washing dishes, a microwave, coffee maker, toaster and a full size refrigerator/freezer. Kitchen linens and dish soap is provided for you. Please note...you're responsible for washing & drying your own dishes! Do NOT leave them for the hotel staff to clean!
The bathroom is nice sized and includes a shower/tub combo, toilet, sink, large mirror and a hair dryer. Our bathroom was extremely clean and I always check out the cleanliness of a bathroom when I am checking out lodging options. Two thumbs up on this clean bathroom!
The bedroom was spacious and we had 2 double beds in our room along with plenty of drawer space and a small hanging bar for hanging clothes. There was plenty of pillows, sheets and blankets along with an iron. One thing I really liked is that the bedroom has a nice flat panel TV.
With all of that said, I find that the free wifi at this particular hotel/motel/resort is absolutely terrible! Every time we go (we've been going there for years), I have to take along my own wifi stick and pull in our own private wifi to all of our electronic devices. Their wifi is as slow as molasses and often times we get kicked off the internet which makes it hard to get anything done. Seriously, it needs to be improved and that's really my only complaint when we stay here.
Overall, we enjoy our visits down to the Harbor Light Family Resort (Motor Inn) in North Wildwood, New Jersey. If you're looking for an affordable, family-friendly place to stay that's close to the beach and located in a quiet-area on the island, we recommend the Harbor Light Family Resort to all of you.
