Miniature Golf, Batting Cages, and Frozen Custard at The Meadows

Miniature Golf, Batting Cages, and Frozen Custard at The Meadows

The Meadows Original Frozen Custard
located on Jonestown Road (route 22) in Harrisburg offers families Miniature Golf, Batting Cages, Italian Ice, Frozen Custards, and Milkshakes. You can pay for everything separately as you go or opt for money-saving packages.

One afternoon we took our two grandchildren over to play mini golf and enjoyed frozen custard after we were done. It was a Saturday afternoon and they were a little busy. Mini Golf costs between $8.00 and $9.00 per player. We had 3 adults and 2 children in our party.

There are 18 fun and challenging holes to play. A few have water features which really amp up the fun factor. The course is mostly in the sun with no benches or places to sit down along the way. During the hot summertime months you may want to play early in the day or later in the evening to avoid the heat.

One of the things we like about The Meadows Mini Golf Course is that it's beautifully landscaped and the holes are typically par 2-3 for adults. When you pay to play they will give you a score card and pencil. There's a sign located at the beginning of the course that explains all of the rules of mini golf.  They offer at least 3 different sized golf clubs, so you can get the right size for every member in your family and everyone will get a different colored golf ball.

From start to finish it took our party of 5 about an hour to get through the course. We could of gotten through quicker but we had a few ahead of us who weren't in a hurry. They held us up several times. Sigh, some people just don't care.

If I could make a few suggestions: Please have the course overhead lights turned off during the daytime hours. They attract a lot of bugs. Several of us got bitten while playing and bugs were swarming all around the lampposts! Next, it would be nice if they could figure out a way to add a few park benches (even small ones) along the way. During busy days parties get caught up to one another and have to stand there and wait. It would be nice to be able to sit down. Finally, more handled nets are needed on the course for when a ball lands into the water and needs to be "fished" out.

After we were done playing we headed up to the Frozen Custard Shop to get frozen custard and milkshakes to enjoy on the ride home. It was too hot to eat there. If you choose to eat there, they do have umbrella tables outside that you can sit at. Usually service is pretty fast, but this time around we had to stand there and wait over 15 minutes for our order and we ONLY had 5 people in our party. We did see 4 employees inside, so I don't believe the lack of help was the issue.

The Meadows is one of our favorite places to play miniature golf in the Harrisburg area. Even though this visit was a little lack-luster, we'll be returning to play again. Hopefully next time around...things will go a bit more smoothly.
