Historic Revere House and Tavern in Paradise Lancaster County

Historic Revere House and Tavern in Paradise Lancaster County

The Historic Revere House and Tavern is located right along Route 30 in Paradise, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. It's a property with several old stone buildings with great signage out front, so you can't miss it when you're driving by. You can pull into the parking lot if you want to get out and walk around.

Revere House was built in 1790 and one of the oldest still-standing buildings in the area. From what I read online...the tavern itself closed for business in 2022 except for reserved banquets and events. I'm not sure if that has changed. The hotel which is part of the Best Western chain is still open for business.

On the side of this historic building is where you'll find the historical marker for your waymarking records. Here's the information from it.

This building prior to 1800 one of many taverns along this highway, April 1854 to about 1865 was owned by James Buchanan fifteenth President of the United States. The home of his brother and sister-in-law, the Reverend Edward Young and Eliza Foster Buchanan. She was the musicianly sister of Stephen Collins Foster whose immortal songs brought untold happiness into the world.

Visiting the Trostletown Covered Bridge in Somerset County

Trostletown Covered Bridge in Somerset County Pennsylvania

The Trostletown Covered Bridge is located in Somerset County. You'll find it located at 349 North Club Road in Stoystown, Pennsylvania. It's one of ten historic covered bridges that are located in the county. This one isn't open to vehicular traffic...just for locals and tourists to enjoy.

* Please let all images load.

According to information posted on the bridge it was built in 1873. It spans Stonycreek and is 104 feet long by 12 1/2 feet wide. Features Queen Post and King Post construction with a shingled gable roof. In 1965 the Stoystown Lions Club took over the bridge and has been lovingly restoring & maintaining it. You'll find a plaque inside with renovation acknowledgments.

Inside you'll find a Conestoga Wagon that was donated in 2010 to the Stoystown Area Historical Society by Charles K. Miller, Susan Buchanan, Kathryn Gallo, and Lynn Barnhart. You can walk through the bridge to get up close to the wagon. It would be nice to see a few more period pieces displayed in there.

It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. This was my favorite bridge located in Somerset County. Definitely worth the visit.

Across the street you'll find the American Legion Post 257 that has an on-site veterans memorial for you to check out. It's dedicated to the veterans of all wars. It features a Huey Helicopter and a M-60 Tank along with the veteran's monument. There's a bench you can sit on to take-in the beautiful landscape of the surrounding area.

Family Fun at Professor Hacker's Lost Treasure Miniature Golf

Professor Hacker's Lost Treasure Miniature Golf in Lancaster County

Professor Hacker's Lost Treasure Miniature Golf in Lancaster County
is one of nine locations across America where you can explore Professor Hacker's search for gold and diamonds. Each 18-hole course features beautiful waterfalls, caves, cliffs, volcanoes, and other water features.

We play a lot of mini golf at home and when we travel. We always seek out Professor Hacker's locations because they're beautifully landscaped, challenging, but yet fun! The location in Lancaster County, Penssylvania offers 2 different courses for you to choose from. Heck, just play them both while you're there!

When visiting you should allow at least 70-90 minutes to play one course. Less time if it's just 2-3 people on a non-busy day. During the weekends and during the tourist season they can get extremely busy, so try to play during off-peak hours. You want to dress appropriately for current weather conditions, wear comfortable shoes and if playing during the daytime...wear your sunscreen!

Like most mini golf courses you'll have the opportunity to win a free game of mini golf. After playing your first round (game) ask an expedition guide to tell you which hole was the mystery hole for the day. (they change daily). If you or anyone in your party hit a hole-in-one at the mystery hole you'll win a free game of golf. That's fun...because if you visit more than once...you won't know which holes is the winning one!

The Original CHEERS Bar and Restaurant in Boston

The Original CHEERS Bar and Restaurant in Boston

Are you a fan of the hit TV show Cheers? Did you know that the set design was inspired by the original CHEERS bar and pub located in Boston? That pub and restaurant was established in 1895 and thanks to the television show is an icon.

While on a business trip to the great city of Boston we stopped into Cheers and had a few drinks. I had always wanted to go there and finally I can check that off my travel bucket list. They open daily at 11 am but can get very busy. Try to go during their off-peak hours if you want to avoid the crowds.
