Bike Riding on the Boardwalk in Wildwood New Jersey

Bike Riding on the Boardwalk in Wildwood New Jersey
We love visiting Wildwood in New Jersey and we go down to the South Jersey Shore a few times every year and this year was no exception. One of the things we enjoy doing down at the Jersey Shore is renting bikes and riding them on the boardwalk early in the morning.

Since it was hot in August, we prefer to rent the bikes and hit the boardwalk on them between 7:30 am and 8:30 am which is a great time since a lot of people are still not up on the boardwalk that early in the morning. Plus, the majority of the stores are still closed, however you'll find people seeking out breakfast or riding bikes...but certainly not crowded during that time of the day.

You will find a lot of bike rental shops down in Wildwood...some are more expensive then others and most charge by the hour. We usually pay about $30.00 to rent our bike which seats 2 adults and 2 children. Make sure you shop around for a good price and don't be afraid to ask for a discount! (we got $3.00 off).

When you ride bikes on the boardwalk you want to follow all of the rules and stay within the bike lanes which are clearly marked. You need to watch what you are doing, so that you don't run into people as a lot of folks are not paying attention to you. All children need to be accompanied by adult bike riders. It's also a good time to go over bike safety rules with the kids before you get started.

In our honest opinion, you want to finish up your riding before 11 AM as the boards start getting crowded with shoppers, tourists and beach go'ers and it becomes unsafe to be riding the bikes. Just our 2 cents on that! The most important thing...just have some family fun!
