Family Holiday Tradition - Hershey Sweet Lights

Hershey Sweet Lights in Hershey Pennsylvania
One of my family's annual holiday traditions is to visit the Hershey Sweet Lights in Hershey Pennsylvania every year. The entire family gets together in a multiple of vehicles and take the 15 minute drive into downtown Hershey. We take snack goody bags along with us for the kids and have a great time!

This year we visited the holiday attraction on December 10th, 2015 and we were super excited to be visiting this holiday attraction again this year. The weather was decent, no rain, just a little bit of fog and there were no long lines the evening that we visited.

A few things before you go: I recommend that you clean all of your car's windows before leaving and I also recommend that you pack a throw blanket for every member in your car. We like to roll our windows down so that we can get great views of the holidays light and to take pictures. Having the blankets in the car keep us warm and the kids typically fall asleep on the ride home. Oh that's another thing, maybe you should let them wear their pajamas!

Admission is $20.00 per car load and you pay that immediately at the front gate. They also offer you the opportunity to purchase bags of kettle corn, cookies & a few other things to munch on. We passed on that since we brought along our own snack and drinks. In addition, they have their own little radio station that plays holiday music, so set your car's radio to the listed station at the front gate.

You will want to drive slowly. The first part of the light show has two driving lanes that are separated by cones. After you go around the far end...these two lanes do merge into one single lane. There are lighting displays on both sides so make sure you are looking at everything as you go along.

We saw some really awesome displays of holiday lights. We saw some of the same ones that we saw last year but they did have a few new ones set up this year for us to enjoy too! Some of the displays are quite large & colorful...while others are smaller and more simple. Regardless, we loved them all.

From start to finish...it took us approximately 35-40 minutes to drive through. Just so you know, we took our good old time and really checked out all of the displays along the way. You can definitely go through it much quicker than that...but what's the point of rushing when you're paying $20 to go through.  We will definitely be back again next year!

 Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

This sounds like a fun and pretty attraction to visit. I love the idea of letting the kids wear their pajamas. Thanks for the tips about cleaning the windows and bringing blankets.
