Patton's Fort Historical Marker in Linglestown

For the past few years we've been driving around the state of Pennsylvania and documenting some of the historical markers that we come across. The information contained on these historical markers document our forgotten past. Thousands of people pass by them on a daily basis and don't even give them a second look. Well, we're trying to change that, by documenting them here on our blog.

The Patton's Fort historical marker is located at the intersection of Patton Road and Linglestown Road in Linglestown Pennsylvania. You can easily pull off the road and grab a photograph of it, if you're documenting area historical markers.

Nearby stood Patton's Fort, a station of the Paxton Rangers, who defended the gaps and farmsteads along the Blue Mountains from the Susquehanna River to Swatara Creek, near Indiantown, against Indian raids from 1756 to 1763.

We tried doing some research on this one online and weren't finding a whole lot on it. I think this one will require a trip to the library or down to the Historical Society of Dauphin County to learn more about. I'm assuming that Indiantown is now called Linglestown, although I've never heard of Linglestown being referred to by that name. We will update this post once we've done some research on it.
