Visiting Rotary Park in Beautiful Cape May

Rotary Park in Cape May New Jersey
Every year during the month of October we enjoy taking a weekend getaway down to Cape May in New Jersey. We live in central Pennsylvania and can reach Cape May in 4 hours by car. A lot of people don't plan on visiting the Jersey Shore in the early Fall, but let me tell you...it's the perfect time to visit! The majority of tourists are gone for the season and everything is still open!

On the weekend that we visited we enjoyed temperatures in the lower 80's with one brief rain shower one afternoon. Everyone was still hitting the beach and wearing summer clothing. The reason I share this information is because it's not too cold to go on a beach weekend getaway!!! Plus, you can find overnight accommodations for 50-70% less than what they charge during the summer season.
Rotary Park in Cape May New Jersey - Victorian Bandstand

Rotary Park in Cape May New Jersey - Victorian Bandstand

One afternoon we headed to Rotary Park after doing some shopping at the nearby Washington Street Mall. The park features a beautiful water fountain, a Victorian bandstand, park benches and is beautifully landscaped. On a sunny day...it's a great park to hangout in.

As the name implies the park is managed by the Cape May Rotary Club. The club made and donated the Victorian Bandstand and throughout the warmer months of the year you can enjoy concerts and events that are hosted there. I love the Victorian architecture of the bandstand...gorgeous! The bandstand was dedicated on July 4th, 1976 and you'll find a historical marker nearby that gives you some of its history.
Rotary Park in Cape May New Jersey - Water Fountain

There is a stunning water fountain that sits a few yards away from the bandstand and visitors like to stop by the fountain and pitch their pennies in while making a wish. I call the style as being a 3-tier birdbath style...that's what it reminds me of when I see it. The water fountain makes a great backdrop for some family photos too!

If you're visiting historic Cape May in New Jersey...make sure you check out Rotary Park. The park is open year-round and is free to visit. You'll find paid (meter parking) and free parking nearby. It's definitely worth a little bit of time to visit.
