The Elm Street Station Park is a little neighborhood park located in the borough of Penbrook in Harrisburg. It's a community gathering place that is open year round from dawn to dusk. If you're unfamiliar with the area...you'll find it located across the street from the Penbrook Administration Building (it sits behind it). Free parking along the side streets to the park.
You'll find various activities that kids and families can enjoy. There's park-style tables with built-in checker boards...bring your own game pieces. You'll find a playground area with sliding boards, climbing tunnels and ride-on toys. There's a section for physical fitness. You'll see a recommended exercises board with suggestions on exercises you can do while in the park.
All children should be accompanied by an adult. The park is partially fenced in with a mulch-style surface. The kids should wear walking shoes and wear comfortable clothing. You'll want to bring along your own water bottles, sunscreen and snacks. Please take your containers and bottles home with you!!! Don't let them there!!!
This little neighborhood park and playground is well-maintained. Every time we've stopped by with our grandchildren it's been clean. It's one of their favorite little playgrounds to visit. It's one of the nicer ones in the area...on the smaller side compared to others...but nice and clean. If you're looking for something to do with the kids (or grandchildren) it's a nice little place to visit. Let's face it...all kids need more "play time" outdoors!
Oh...while you're there...check out the colorful outdoor wall mural titled The Future of Penbrook by artist Sarah Fogg across the street. It's beautiful.
