Chickie's & Pete's Crab House and Sports Bar

Chickie's & Pete's Crab House and Sports Bar in Wildwood New Jersey
Hubby and I love seafood and one of the best places to get crabs here in the north east (at an affordable price) is at Chickie's & Pete's Crab House and Sports Bar. According to ESPN, it is the #1 Sports Bar here in North America.

When we visit Chickie's & Pete's, we are usually on vacation down at the beach house in Wildwood New Jersey but you can also find them in the Philadelphia area too. They have a great seafood menu (some gluten-free items too) consisting of crabs, lobster pie (pizza), perfectly seasoned mussels, crab fries, buffalo wings, onion rings, nachos and more!!!

Some of my personal favorites when I dine there is the snow crab legs, jumbo lump crab cakes and the lobster cheesesteak sandwich! Hubby loves to order the buffalo chicken and the nachos! He said no one makes nachos better than Chickie's & Pete's.

You can visit their site online to find locations near you, to view their extensive dining menu and to find out what the draft beer specials are for the day. If you ever get a chance to stop in to a Chickie's & Pete's Crab House and Sports Bar, we highly recommend it!

Note: The photo shown in this blog feature shows their Wildwood, New Jersey location which sits right on the Wildwood Boardwalk.

The architecture of the building is breath-taking and beautiful. The building was designed by Lancaster architect Emlen Urban, a famous architect in the area during the late 1920's.

Great Family Fun - Hershey Bears Hockey Game

The Giant Center in Hershey Pennsylvania
The Giant Center in Hershey
The Harrisburg and Hershey area is rich in professional and semi-professional sports. We have a minor league baseball team (Harrisburg Senators), the Harrisburg City Islanders (soccer team), the Central Penn Piranha (a semi-pro football team) and of course...our beloved Hershey Bears hockey team.

The Hershey Bears are based out of Hershey Pennsylvania and all of their home games are held in the Giant Center. The season typically runs from September through June every year. You can find a complete schedule of home and away games on the team web site.
Hershey Bears Hockey Game

Can't make it to a game? You can watch LIVE games and/or listen to LIVE games directly from their web site online. I think that is super cool and something that we often do when we can't make it to a game.

When purchasing tickets to a game, we prefer to purchase ours online. This way we can kind of choose which section we want to sit in and it speeds up the process of us getting in the door and finding our seats.
The Giant Center in Hershey Pennsylvania

Attending the games is a great family activity or a "date night" activity for adults. Hubby and I enjoy going to the Hershey Bears home games and highly recommend that if you live in the area or will be visiting the area...pick up some tickets and go have yourself a good time!

Personal Misting Humidifier for Travelers

Personal Misting Humidifier for Travelers
My husband and I do a lot of traveling. Every month you can find us hitting the road for either a business trip or a personal vacation. We try to be minimalist packers but there are some things that we absolutely need when we travel.

For example, I suffer with seasonal allergies and sinus infections. Hubby suffers with sleep apnea and dry nasal passages. Due to these conditions, we have to travel with a misting humidifier every time we hit the road.

In the past we used to drag around a humidifier that was as big as a 12-pack soda box. It was clunky in it's size, heavy and took up way too much space. It was a real pain in the butt to pack and wasn't the easiest thing to operate. We knew there had to be a better way!
Personal Misting Humidifier for Travelers

Let me introduce you to the Personal Misting Humidifier by Violife. Model # VMH101. This ultrasonic humidifier uses a standard water bottle and features a 270 degree rotating nozzle. You can basically point that nozzle in any direction that you need.

Additional features that I love include adjustable vapor output, 3-color changing light, a universal power adapter and it comes with a one year warranty. The entire unit has a very small footprint and doesn't take up hardly any room. It is super light-weight and you can put it in your luggage, carry-on bag or even in a tote bag.

The vapor mist is very fine and you can see it coming out of the unit. It is not tossing droplets of water all over the place and making a mess at all. This unit is powerful enough to do an entire small room which is perfect for a hotel room, RV, camper or bedroom at home.
Personal Misting Humidifier for Travelers

To operate you add your single-serving bottle of water into the top of the unit, plug it in, turn it on and adjust the rotating nozzle. Your done and it immediately starts producing a very fine moisturizing mist into the air. Since we use ours when we are primarily sleeping, we appreciate that the machine is whisper quiet. That's right, it makes no noise and it won't keep you up at night!

We absolutely love this personal misting humidifier from the great folks over at Violife. You can visit their web site to learn more about this product and other items that they sell. You can also check them out on Facebook too.

Disclosure: Shelly H. was given a complimentary personal misting humidifier by Violife to try out for her review. Regardless, her thoughts, opinions and ideas expressed in this review are 100% her own and were not influenced by the company. No monetary compensation was received.

Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Harrisburg

Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Harrisburg Pennsylvania
Sometimes when hubby and I travel we like to visit cemeteries, especially if they are close by to where we are staying. Some cemeteries have beautiful religious statues and well-manicured grounds. In addition, we like to walk through them and see all of the beautiful headstones, flower gardens, benches, etc. that you often find when you visit a cemetery.

We are very fortunate that we live right down the street from Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Harrisburg Pennsylvania which is one of the prettiest cemeteries here in our state, especially here in the Harrisburg area.
Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Harrisburg Pennsylvania
We have several beloved family members buried at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens and when we visit, we plan an entire afternoon to be there. We love to get out of the car and just walk the entire memorial garden as we pay our respects to our loved ones.

Walking around the cemetery is a beautiful experience and they have several nice religious statues throughout the gardens. It makes for easy walking and we often see people walking or jogging through the gardens. Of course, the best time to visit is during the spring, summer and fall.
Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Harrisburg Pennsylvania
If walking or jogging isn't your thing...don't worry, they have plenty of garden benches that you can sit on and just relax. We like to sit on one particular bench that is right underneath and old oak tree. Makes for beautiful shade and you can get a nice view of most of the gardens.

What is really unique about this memorial garden is that you don't see any "upright" grave stones. All of the ones here are flat against the ground so there is nothing really obstructing any of your views. Some of them do have vases on them and I like seeing all of the various floral arrangements that people leave for their loved ones.
Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Harrisburg Pennsylvania

You can learn more about Woodlawn Memorial Gardens and the Burial Services that they have to offer. The public can walk through the gardens during normal hours of operation. You can also learn more by visiting them on Facebook.
