The State Museum of Pennsylvania is located in the heart of the city. General admission is $5.00 for adults, $4.00 for children. Located within the museum is the Planetarium which is only open at specific certain times and for an additional admission price. The museum is the best museum in the city and has a lot of hands-on activities and exhibits for the entire family to enjoy.

Harrisburg City Island is home to many fun activities! You can catch a minor league baseball game (Harrisburg Senators), take a cruise on the Susquehanna River on The Pride of the Susquehanna Riverboat, enjoy a round a miniature golf, play in the batting cages or enjoy some fun arcade games. There are several nice family-friendly activities to enjoy on City Island! Visiting during the summertime? Check out their sandy beach for some swimming fun.

The National Civil War Museum is located at Reservoir Park in Harrisburg and sit on top of a large hill, over-looking the beautiful city of Harrisburg. The views of the city are absolutely gorgeous up there! The museum is open 7 days a week and admission varies, see web site for additional information. Throughout the year the museum hosts different events and activities, so always check out their website before you go.

The John Harris-Simon Cameron Mansion is open for tours to the public during specific days and times of the week. This historic landmark in Harrisburg was built in 1766 by the founder of Harrisburg, John Harris, Jr.

The Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts is located on Market Street, in the downtown area of Harrisburg. If you love science and the arts, you can discover 3 floors of great activities and exhibits and an Imax movie theater. A great family-friendly activity that the entire family will enjoy!

The Wildwood Lake Park is located in the northern area of the city and is 100% free to enjoy! Walk the trails and boardwalk around the lake and take in the beautiful scenery! You will see various species of birds, ducks and other wildlife in their natural habitat. You'll find an indoor Nature Center (free) that has hands-on activities for the entire family to enjoy.
* Take a walk along the
Susquehanna River! There are walking paths/trails alongside the Harrisburg side of the river. You can go for a walk, jog or workout along many of the physical fitness stations located alongside the walking/jogging paths. If walking isn't your thing, find a bench to sit on and just take in the sights and sounds of the beautiful Susquehanna River.

Bumble Bee Hollow Miniature Golf is located just outside the inner city limits on Linglestown Road in Harrisburg. You and the family can play 18 holes of miniature golf and then pick up some lunch or dinner nearby. (or check out The Meadows listed below).

The Meadows Mini Golf - is located on Jonestown Road in Harrisburg and is located right behind The Meadows Original Frozen Custard Shop. They're an entertainment facility that offers an 18-hole miniature golf course, baseball & softball batting cages, an indoor arcade and their delicious frozen custards! You're family can enjoy an afternoon or even of affordable fun at The Meadows!
