Elizabeth Montgomery from Bewitched Statue in Salem

Elizabeth Montgomery from Bewitched Statue in Salem

When I was a child my mother would sit all of us kids in front of the TV to watch Bewitched every week. Elizabeth Montgomery who played Sabrina was one of my mother's favorite actresses. She admired her for her beauty and her talent. The sitcom ran in the U.S. from 1964-1972.

We were on an extended weekend getaway to Boston and took a day trip into Salem. By pure accident we stumbled upon the Elizabeth Montgomery statue located at the intersection of Essex and Washington Street. It was installed in 2005 and attracts visitors from all around the world who were big fans of the sitcom. It was built by TV Land.

It was really cool to see. If you're a fan of Bewitched and/or Elizabeth Montgomery...you'll want to stop by to check it out. Looking for other things to see and do while visiting Massachusetts? You can find some fun ideas on our travel blog. You can double-click on the image to get it to open up in a new window in a larger size to see all of the details.

Historic White Mill Hotel

We took a road trip through western Pennsylvania and one town that we passed through was Belsano in Cambria County. We were traveling along route 422 in Blacklick Township when we spotted the old historic White Mill Hotel. It's no longer a hotel and is now a private residence.

After parking we got out and took a few photographs of it hoping we could find some history on it online. After looking around we couldn't find much info about it. We did photograph a nearby historical marker featuring Malcolm Cowley, an influential poet, editor, and writer. According to one website...Malcolm Cowley was born at the hotel in 1898. Other than that...we'll keep digging!

Kohl Memorial Park in Harrisburg

There are several public parks in Lower Paxton Township and all are nice. Some have more ammenities than others. Kohl Memorial Park is close to our home and in our honest opinion...one of the nicest to visit. We like to take our own brown bag lunch and enjoy it at the park. During the weekdays it's not too busy...on the weekends it can get busy if atheltic games are going on. Overall, a very nice park for you and the family to visit.

Cape May County Zoo is one of only ten zoos in the United States to be dually accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and the Zoological Association of America. These accreditations hold the zoo to the highest standards in animal care and conservation.

When visiting you'll find a lot of free parking areas. They're all well-marked and identified. Handicap parking is available closer to the zoo entrance. At the gate please tell the attendant that you need handicap parking and they will direct you to that specific lot.

Note: If you need to rent a wheelchair, scooter or stroller...you can find them at the Lion's Den Gift Shop right before you enter the zoo.

You'll be doing a lot of walking so wear comfortable walking shoes and dress appropriately for the weather. You'll be outside except for 2 climate controlled buildings (the Aviary and Reptile buildings). I recommend that you put on susncreen and insect repellant before entering the zoo.

At the entrance you'll be given a map. If it's your first time visiting I recommend following the map for your self-guided tour. It will show you the route you should take and which animals you'll see along that route. It also shows you where the public restrooms and concession stands are located.
